UK MGLF Place Third, Wood Ties for Second at Hamptons Intercollegiate

The Kentucky men’s golf team finished its fall campaign in strong fashion, placing third at the Hamptons Intercollegiate Tuesday at Maidstone Club in East Hampton, N.Y. Graduate Garrett Wood tied for second individually at 4-over-par, marking his eighth Top 10 finish in 20 tournaments as a Wildcat.

The Cats, who posted the second-best final-round team score, finished in third place at 40-over-par, one stroke behind second-place Yale. Virginia won the event at 4-over-par.

Wood played one hole to complete his second round Tuesday morning, carding a 1-under 71 for his fourth round of par or better this season. The Mason, Ohio, native then used five birdies in his third round on his way to a 1-over-73.

Senior Alex Goff bounced back from a 5-over 77 in the second round to birdie three of his last six holes in the third round en route to a 2-over 74 and a tie for 14th finish, marking his third Top 20 in four starts this fall. Junior Campbell Kremer battled through a difficult final round, tallying an 8-over 80, to notch his first Top 20 of the year in a tie for 20th.

Freshman Andrew Clark carded a 6-over 78 Tuesday afternoon but still finished tied for 31st while graduate Dhaivat Pandya placed 37th after a final-round 3-over 75. Freshman Kevin Watts, playing as an individual, tied for 31st after recording a 4-over 76 in the final round.

Individually, Wood tied for the best in the field in par-5 scoring at 4-under for the tournament. Kremer’s 12 birdies tied for the most in the field while Goff’s 37 pars were the second-most.
