
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team fell to in-state rival Morehead State, 3-0, on Monday night at McBrayer Arena.
The Eagles won by scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-20.
In set one, the teams traded points to start the opening set and the two teams were tied, 9-9, after a Morehead State attack error. The Eagles took control in the first set with a 6-0 run to take a 15-9 lead into the media timeout. EKU chipped into the Eagle lead after a Jovana Bulatovic kill to cut the Morehead State lead to 17-14. However, the Colonels could never get any closer and fell in the opening set, 25-19.
Morehead State (14-0) took control early in set two, after back-to-back Olivia Lohmeier service aces to take an 8-4 lead. Eastern Kentucky cut the Eagle lead to three, 13-10, after a Molly Michalak kill but could never get any closer. The Eagles took the second set, 25-14.
Eastern Kentucky (2-14) battled with Morehead State in the final set. The Colonels went on a 4-0 run late in the set after a Bulatovic kill to cut the third set to 23-20. The Eagles scored the final two points of the set to take the final set and the match, 3-0.
Michalak and Lindsey Wilkins each had a team-best 11 kills on the contest. Freshman Audrey Eurton had 17 assists and Raegan Alexander chipped in 11 assists.
Eastern wraps up the regular season at Tennessee State next Sunday and Monday. First serve against the Tigers is scheduled for 6 p.m.
