University of Louisville men’s track and field athlete Trey Allen has been named the ACC Men’s Co-Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.

This is the first time in his career that Allen has received the honor. He shares this week’s distinction with Clemson sophomore Daniel Cope.

The Birmingham, Ala. native started the indoor season off with a school record-breaking jump of 2.27m (7-5.25) at the Commonwealth College Opener last Saturday.  The redshirt junior smashed the previous school indoor high jump record of 2.23m (7-3.75) that was set in 2018 by Javen Reeves. After tying his previous personal best of 2.20m (7-2.5), Allen initially broke the Louisville record with a clearance of 2.25m (7-4.5). The bar was then raised to 2.27m which he cleared on his second attempt to best the school record he had set minutes earlier. The mark currently ranks first nationally for the three-time All-American and four-time All-ACC performer.

The Cardinals return to competition with the Cardinal Classic on Jan. 13-14 at the Norton Healthcare Sport and Learning Center in Louisville, Ky.
