UofL BSB Ranked Sixth in Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll

The University of Louisville baseball program earned its first preseason ranking for the 2023 season as Collegiate Baseball released its preseason poll on Tuesday.

The Cardinals sit at No. 6 in the poll and were the highest ranked ACC team. LSU held the top spot followed by Florida, Stanford, Texas A&M and Tennessee.

Louisville is coming off a 42-21-1 season in 2022, winning the program’s fifth ACC Atlantic Division crown in seven full seasons as a member of the league.

Dan McDonnell returns four position player starters as he heads into his 17th season at the helm of the Louisville program.

Jack Payton (.350, 23 2B, 54 RBI), Christian Knapczyk (.346, 72 R, 17 SB), Isaac Humphrey (.328, 15 2B, 38 RBI) and Logan Beard (.310, 12 2B, 54 RBI) all return to lead the Cards’ offensive attack in 2023.

The Cardinals also welcome back 11 pitchers that recorded at least 10 innings on the mound last spring.

Louisville opens the 2023 season on Feb. 17 with a three-game series against Bucknell at Jim Patterson Stadium.
