Kentucky Track & Field Wins 21 Events at Jingle Bells Open

Kentucky kicked off its 2019-20 indoor track and field season with a strong showing at Nutter Field House on Friday in the Jingle Bells Open. After the one-day meet, UK now boasts eight national leaders. 

The Wildcats’ impressive showing gives the team some momentum going into the winter break period as they gear up for their next meet at home on Jan. 10-11 in the Jim Green Invitational.

UK Event Winners

Matthew Peare set a new school record in men’s pole vault with a 17’6.5” (5.35-meters) mark to win the event.

Annika Williams won the women’s pentathlon with 3,671 points. Williams won the high jump and long jump to propel her to the victory.

Ellen Ekholm won the women’s high jump with a 5’10.75” (1.80m) mark, falling just short of a school record set in 1996 by Raina Turner who jumped a 6’0” (1.68m).

Rahman Minor jumped a 7’1” (2.16m) to win the men’s high jump.

Molly Leppelmeier won the women’s weight throw with a mark of 63’4.75” (19.32m).

Tatiana Aholou won the women’s long jump with a mark of 19’1.25” (5.82m).

Riley Caudill claimed the women’s pole vault with a 12’4.50” (3.77m).

Charles Lenford Jr. powered his way to a victory in the men’s weight throw with a 65’6.75” (19.98m) mark.

Robert Springfield III claimed the men’s long jump with a 23’0” (7.01m) effort.

Nicole Fautsch won the women’s shot put with a mark of 51’8.50” (15.76m).

Joshua Sobota, with a 63’5” (19.33m) mark, won the men’s shot put.

Joseph Palmer took the men’s triple jump with a distance of 48’3.25” (14.71m).

Celera Barnes won the women’s 60m in 7.27 (personal-best time) and the women’s 200m in 24.18.

Dwight St. Hillaire won the men’s 60m in 6.76.

Faith Ross claimed the women’s 400m in 55.47.

Alexis Holmes won the women’s 300m in 37.84.

Cameron Council won the men’s 300m in 33.60.

Langston Jackson claimed the men’s 200m in 21.24.

The women’s 4x400m relay team of Dajour Miles, Megan Moss, Ross and Holmes won in 3:41.41.

The men’s 4x400m relay team of Council, Lance Lang, Nathaniel Bann and St. Hillaire won in 3:18.84.
