A Pair of Top-15 Finishes Headline Thomas More MGOLF Trip To Tennessee

The Thomas More University men’s golf team returned to action over the past two days in the Music City Invitational, hosted by Cumberland University at the Twelve Stones Golf Club. The Saints finished in a tie for 6th out of 10 teams after a strong day two.

Results

The Saints shot 307 as a team after round one, before their 36-hole day yesterday was cut short due to darkness. Picking up the action today, Thomas More finished round two at 319 as a team before really turning on the jets in round three, shooting a 299 to finish with a total team score of 925.

Dakota Finn was the leader for the Saints, finishing in a tie for 10th with four other players at 224 (76, 74, 74). The junior finished the tournament with eight birdies, with four on Par 4’s, two on Par 3’s and two on Par 5’s. He moved up three spots during the day.
The biggest mover for Thomas More was sophomore Mason Butler, who began the day in 26th and ended the day in 15th place. After finishing up round two at 79, Butler shot the best round of the tournament for the Saints, firing a 70 during the afternoon to finish at 225 (76, 79, 70). His round of 70 included six birdies, while he finished the tournament with 11 birdies. He had seven birdies on Par 4’s, with two on Par 3’s and two on Par 5’s.

Landon Finn finished in a tie for 28th at 233 (77, 79, 77). He had three birdies during the tournament with a pair of them on Par 3’s and the other on a Par 4.

Lucas Lammers and Ben Epplen both finished in a tie for 50th at 247. Lammers shot 82, 87, 78 while Epplen carded 78, 89, 80. Lammers had four birdies, with three on Par 5’s and one on a Par 4, while Epplen finished with three birdies (two on Par 4’s, one on a Par 5).
