The University of Louisville men’s soccer team heads north for its first conference road match of the season at Boston College on Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET in Newton, Mass., and will be televised on ACC Network Extra.

ABOUT THE CARDINALS

Louisville took its second consecutive one-goal loss on Saturday, dropping a 2-1 decision to No. 7 Duke. Konstantinos Georgallides scored the opening goal for the Cards and they outshot the Blue Devils 15-11, but Louisville’s effort came up just short.

The Cardinals have already played three matches against teams ranked in the top 10 just five matches into the season. Louisville still has six matches remaining on its schedule against teams currently ranked, including contests against the top two teams in the latest poll.

SERIES HISTORY

Louisville and Boston College will square off for the ninth time on Friday night with the Cardinals holding a 6-1-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Cards are 2-1-1 in Newton, but lost their most recent trip there in March of 2021.

The Cardinals defeated Boston College 2-0 in the most recent meeting between the two last September. Ugo Achara and Nico Diaz each scored in the final 15 minutes to lift UofL to the victory.

LOUISVILLE SPREADING THE WEALTH OFFENSIVELY

The Cardinals have found the net 11 times through the first five matches and the offensive output has come from a multitude of players.

Through five matches, eight different Cardinals have scored and 12 have recorded either a goal or an assist.

Seventeen different Cardinals registered at least one point during the 2021 season.

LOUISVILLE FRESHMEN MAKING EARLY IMPACT IN 2022

John Michael Hayden and the Louisville coaching staff added another top 25 recruiting class this summer. The group included eight freshmen, several of which have already seen extensive playing time through three matches.

Quinton Elliot and Filip Fredhall have started each of the first five matches at outside back, while Damien Barker John and Konstantinos Georgallides have combined to start all five matches on the right wing.

Georgallides is the team leader with six points, while Barker John is second on the team with 12 shots taken. Georgallides scored the tying goal against Seattle and later assisted on the game-winner.
