Thomas More women’s soccer team defeated Indiana East 3-1 in their home opener on Wednesday evening (September 1). The Saints record moves to 2-0.

·         First-year Eva Kinwel (Anaheim, Netherlands / Beehadal lyceum) started things off for the Saints, getting a fast break to find the back of the net with 3:10 into the start of the first half (1-0).

·         Next up, first-year Amy Bos (Beuningen, Netherlands / Mondial College Nijmegen) scored her first career Saints goal from senior Jordan Harley‘s (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy) centered ball to extend the Saints lead 2-0.

·         Iu-East’s Elizabeth Garrison scored off a cross by McKenna Kleinrichert to put the Red Wolves down by one (2-1).

·         Kinwel headered the ball in off of first year Lotte Derksen‘s (Didam, Netherlands/Liemers College) beautiful corner to secure the Saints lead 3-1 with 4:87 to play in the game.

·         Kinwell led things for the Saints, recording two goals and had five shots with three being on goal.

·         Junior Sydney Rhodes (South Lebanon, Ohio / Kings) had three shots with two being on goal.

·         Derksen had three shots with one on goal and had one assist.

·         Graduate student Nely Martinez-Hernandez (Madrid, Spain / Jaime Ferran) tallied three shots with one being on goal.

·         Bos had two shots on goal with one of them finding the back of the net.

·         Senior Lindsey Brown (Melbourne, Ky. / Campbell County) recorded two shots with on goal.

·         Sophomore Ainsley Clark (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) and sophomore Avery Seig (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) both had two shots on goal.

·         Harley had on shot on goal and one assist.

·         First-year Kylie O’Leary (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) had a great game recording another win with seven saves in the net.

·         Up next, the Saints go up against Milligan on Saturday (September 4) on Thomas More Field at 3:00 pm.
