The University of Louisville’s Carmyn Greenwood has announced that she will return to compete for the Cardinals’ softball team in the 2022 season, utilizing an NCAA-granted extra year of eligibility.
“I am so excited to be coming back for my final season of college softball,” said Greenwood. “I am blessed to have called Louisville home, but I’m not done playing the sport I love just yet! Can’t wait to see what my last year has in store! Go Cards!”
The left fielder from Birmingham, Alabama recently completed her second season at UofL after transferring to from Auburn prior to the 2020 COVID-19-shortened season. After earning her bachelor’s degree in marketing in May 2021, Greenwood will compete in her final collegiate softball season while pursuing a certificate in franchise management.
As a redshirt senior, Greenwood earned 2021 NFCA All-Southeast Region first team honors after a career-best season in which she the Cardinals with a .430 batting average, 74 hits, nine doubles and 31 runs – all career bests. She also paced the team with 23 multi-hit games and is tied for eighth on Louisville’s list for single season hits. The all-ACC second team selection also led the conference in hits and stood second in batting average. She earned league Player of the Week honors on April 7.
The 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-ACC Academic Team selection has also been named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and the Dean’s List.
