Reigning Horizon League regular-season champion Northern Kentucky announces its 2021-22 slate of games. The Norse have 18 regular-season fixtures in the lineup, facing all 11 Horizon League foes in a round-robin league schedule and seven nonconference tilts.

The regular-season opens with a showdown against local-foe Cincinnati on Aug. 19 at the NKU Soccer Stadium. Home contests against Eastern Kentucky (Aug. 22) and Evansville (Sept.  5) bookend three-straight road contests against regional opponents, Dayton (Aug. 26), Louisville (Aug. 29) and Bellarmine (Sept. 2). A trip to Athens, Ohio, on Sept. 9, for a meeting with Ohio wraps up the nonconference portion of the Norse’s schedule.

In Horizon League play, Northern Kentucky will play host to five games while taking to the road for six. A Sept. 16 contest against Detroit Mercy serves as both the league opener for the Norse but also the first of its five home league games. NKU also welcomes Cleveland State (Sept. 26), Purdue Fort Wayne (Oct. 7), Oakland (Oct. 14) and Green Bay (Oct. 23) to Highland Heights.

Road contests versus UIC (Sept. 19), IUPUI (Sept. 23), Robert Morris (Oct. 2), Youngstown State (Oct. 10), Milwaukee (Oct. 17) and Wright State (Oct. 27) complete the league slate.

The six-team Horizon League Tournament is scheduled for Oct. 31, Nov. 4 and Nov. 6, with the top two teams receiving byes into the semifinals. NKU also has exhibitions scheduled for Aug. 14 at Morehead State and Aug. 16 versus Thomas More at home.

Northern Kentucky is coming off of its first Horizon League Regular-Season Championship after posting a 7-0-1 record in league play and going 8-1-2 overall. The reigning Horizon League Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Year Mimi Stines returns to lead the team. With Stines orchestrating the team from her goalkeeper position, NKU ranked third in the nation in save percent (.913) and fourth in both goals against average (.345) and shutout percentage (.727). Stines was electric, finishing the season ranked third nationally in goals against average (.264) and save percent (.929). Stines enters the season on a personal stretch of 820:37-minutes without giving up a goal, while the team is on an unblemished streak of 659:22-minutes.
