Kentucky MGOLF Climbs Rankings at Lewis Chitengwa Memorial

The Kentucky men’s golf team has made an impressive climb in the rankings at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial on Monday, finishing the second round in seventh place. The team played 36 holes at the Birdwood Golf Course, showcasing their skill and determination throughout the day.

The Wildcats began their morning round teeing off on holes 12 through 15 in a shotgun start, posting a 3-over 287 to sit in 10th place. However, the team made a significant comeback in the afternoon session, carding a 6-under 278 to tie for the third-best round of the second session. This impressive score also ties the Cats’ low round of the season, matching a second-round 278 at the Island Resort Intercollegiate.

Final-round play is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. ET on Tuesday, promising an exciting finish to the tournament.

Graduate student Wood from Mason, Ohio, overcame a double bogey on his second hole of the day to post a 1-under 70. In the afternoon, Wood scored a 4-under 67 to tie for seventh place after 36 holes. This outstanding performance marks Wood’s third consecutive round under par and his 12th of the season.

Junior Campbell Kremer fought his way to an opening-round 1-over-par 72 and later achieved a 1-under 70 in the second round. He is now tied for 27th place at even-par. Senior Alex Goff posted an even-par 71 in the morning, followed by a second-round 1-over 72, putting him in a tie for 35th place at 1-over for the tournament.

Graduate Dhaivat Pandya and freshman Kevin Watts round out the Wildcat lineup, both tied for 60th at 6-over. Pandya bounced back from an opening round 8-over 79 to score a 2-under 69, while Watts matched his 3-over 74 score in both rounds.

Redshirt freshman Andrew Clark, playing as an individual, is tied for 56th at 5-over through 36 holes. After an opening round 4-over 75, he scored a 1-over 72 in the afternoon.

As a team, Kentucky is tied for fourth in the 15-team field with 115 pars. Wood’s exceptional performance also places him tied for fourth in par-3 scoring at 1-under-par.

With the final round commencing on Tuesday, fans eagerly anticipate the outcome as the Kentucky men’s golf team continues their pursuit of success at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial.
