Murray State women’s tennis returns to action with a pair of Ohio Valley Conference matches at home on the weekend. Friday afternoon will feature a matchup with UT Martin, while Saturday’s competition will be against the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State. Both matches will take place at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers, who enter Friday’s match with a 2-1 start to OVC competition, currently find themselves in fourth place in the conference standings as they approach two pivotal matches on the weekend. Claire Chang is 7-6 at the no. 1 singles position for the Racers on the year, while Amina Hadzic is a perfect 5-0 when competing at the no. 3 spot in 2019.
Heading into Friday, UT Martin is 1-2 through their first three OVC matches on the year after they earned a 6-1 victory over Tennessee State on Monday. The Skyhawks are led by Asel Jumamukhambetova, who is off to a 3-0 start at the no. 1 singles spot in OVC singles competition in 2019.
SEMO, who will take on Austin Peay on Friday before their Saturday meeting with the Racers, are out to a 1-1 start in OVC competition after falling to Belmont 4-3 in their last time out. The Redhawks are fueled by Romana Tarajova, who is 8-3 in the no. 1 singles spot on the season.
