⛳ Murray State WGOLF Alma Garcia Leads Racers in Lady Bison Classic

Murray State University’s women’s golf team has started their spring season on a strong note at the Lady Bison Classic in Panama City, Florida. Alma Garcia, a Racer golfer, emerged as the leader of the day with a low round score of 75. Her performance placed her in 13th place among the 85 competitors and made her the top individual player in the tournament.

The Murray State golfers ended day one of the 54-hole championship in ninth place with a team score of 321. They were closely followed by Dayton (319) and Morehead State and South Dakota State (314). Payton Carter led the Racer team with a 22nd place finish after scoring a 78, while Eliza Mae Kho came in 29th place with a 79. Kaitlyn Zieba recorded a 81 to secure 41st place, while Ana Picchi placed 51st with an 83, and Ellie West finished 81st with a 92.

The second individual player for Murray State, McKenna Stahl, placed 51st with a score of 83.

Host team Lipscomb had a strong first round and was in the lead with a 291 score. Other top five teams were FGCU (295), North Alabama (303), Charleston Southern (304) and UNC Asheville (306). Lipscomb’s Lauren Thompson had a standout performance and was the medalist leader with a 68.

The second round of the Lady Bison Classic will tee off on Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8 AM Central Time.
