he University of Louisville men’s soccer program has received a boost with the addition of three new student-athletes for the spring semester. Head Coach John Michael Hayden announced the arrival of Elijah Brijbasi, Gaetano D’Argento, and Gage Guerra to the team, and he couldn’t be more excited about it.

“We are thrilled to have Elijah, Gaetano, and Gage join our group for this upcoming spring,” Hayden said. “Each player brings a set of unique skills that will certainly improve our squad. Equally important is that all three are people of high character.”

The three new additions bring a wealth of experience to the team. Brijbasi, a freshman from Baltimore, was an All-MIAA and Baltimore Sun All-Metro selection in high school, and he brings a solid midfield game to the team. D’Argento, a defender from Wayne, Ill., comes to Louisville after spending two seasons at Bowling Green. Guerra, the 2022 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, joins the program after two successful years at Army where he earned several accolades and helped the team win its first Patriot League regular season championship in 26 years.

“In our recruitment, we set out to identify what I’ll call ‘Louisville Players’ and there is no doubt, from the little amount of time they’ve already been here, that they fit right into our program’s culture. I’m excited to see how they develop as players and men throughout their time with us,” said Hayden.

The trio of student-athletes join a Louisville program that went 9-6-3 in 2022 and earned its 14th NCAA Tournament appearance, including its third under Coach Hayden’s leadership. The addition of these three talented players is sure to make an impact on the team and help them reach new heights.
