Eastern Kentucky University’s baseball game against No. 8 University of Louisville has been moved to Tuesday due to a poor weather forecast for Wednesday. The game at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville will start at 3 p.m.
The game will air live on the ACC Network Extra. Admission is FREE and gates open one hour prior to the first pitch.
The Colonels (2-1) began their season this past weekend with two wins at the Andre Dawson Classic in New Orleans. EKU scored 11 runs each in its last two games and has compiled 17 stolen bases through three games this season.
The Colonels won two of their first three games to start a season for the first time since 2012 and just the fifth time since 2000.
Offensively, Eastern has posted a balanced attack. Seven Colonels have four or more hits, five have scored three or more runs, four have four RBIs, four have at least one home run and three have stolen four bases.
Freshman Lyndon Weaver leads the team with seven hits in 11 at bats for a .636 batting average. Fellow freshman Christian Lucio has two home runs and a double in 15 at bats.
Freshman right-hander Julian Jackson will get the start on the mound against the top-10 ranked Cardinals. He allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning in his collegiate debut on Friday. The bullpen foursome of Aaron Ochsenbein, Jake Lewis, Nick Laster and Jacob Ferris combined to toss five and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief over the weekend.
UofL (1-2) began its season with one win in three games against 20th ranked Connecticut in Florida over the weekend. The Cardinals won the middle game of the series, 12-2, but scored five runs combined in their two losses.
Lucas Dunn and Logan Wyatt lead the team with a .556 batting average. Wyatt has one home run and a team-best four RBIs. Junior right-hander Luke Smith will start for Louisville. In one appearance this season, he allowed one run in one and two-thirds innings.
