EKU Volleyball Adds Lucy Malone, a Libero/Defensive Specialist from Rutgers

Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) volleyball program is excited to announce the addition of Lucy Malone, a libero/defensive specialist who played at Rutgers in the Big Ten Conference last season, to their team. EKU Head Coach Johnna Bazzani made the announcement today.

Malone played in 30 matches during the 2022 season at Rutgers. The Louisville, Kentucky native was second on the team with 202 digs and second with 2.13 digs per set. She also had 41 assists, nine service aces and one kill. Malone set season-highs for digs with 22 against the College of Charleston and 22 against Radford.

“We are excited to add Lucy to our program and welcome her back to her home state,” said Bazzani. “She’s going to add tremendous experience in our back court. Lucy has played in one of the most competitive conferences, and I know she will bring that competitive drive into our program.”

As a freshman in 2021, Malone played at Coastal Carolina where she appeared in four matches and registered seven digs.

Malone was an AVCA High School Honorable Mention All-American selection as a senior at Sacred Heart Academy. She earned a spot on the all-region team in 2019 and 2020. Malone played club volleyball for the UNION Under Armour Volleyball Club and was a two-time AAU All-American.
