The Bellarmine University department of athletics is excited to announce that 10 new members and one “Legend” will be inducted into the Bellarmine University Athletic Hall of Fame in March.

The late Jack McGetrick, who helped found and was the first-ever head coach of the lacrosse program, will enter as a “Legends” member of the Hall of Fame, whose most recent class was selected by committee vote.

Joining McGetrick will be Ally Foster (softball), Emily Frith (women’s cross country/track and field), Mary Beth Gorham Spivey (women’s soccer), Angela Hapner Musk (women’s cross country/track and field), Braydon Hobbs (men’s basketball), Meghan Jones (women’s track and field), Jeremy Kendle (men’s basketball), Chris Striegel (men’s cross country/track and field), Michael Thompson (baseball) and Dillon Ward (lacrosse).

Here’s just a sample of the extraordinary accomplishments of each member of the 2023 HOF class.

  • Jack McGetrick: Coach McGetrick helped found Bellarmine’s lacrosse program in 2004 and guided the Knights in their inaugural season of 2005 through 2010. McGetrick passed away in October of 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His 45 career head-coaching wins at Bellarmine remain a program record.
  • Ally Foster: Foster is the softball program’s lone All-American, earning the accolades in 2014 and 2016. She was the 2014 GLVC Player of the Year, a four-time All-Region selection and either the all-time leader or top 5 in nearly every hitting and pitching category in the program record book.
  • Emily Frith: Frith was a two-time cross country All-American (2012 and 2014), the latter in which she delivered the top finish at the NCAA Championships (fourth) in program history. She was also a two-time GLVC XC Runner of the Year, a GLVC XC Freshman of the Year and a two-time outdoor track and field All-American (5000 and 10000).
  • Mary Beth Gorham Spivey: A forward on the pitch, Gorham Spivey was a first-team All-American and the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year in 2015. She was also the 2013 GLVC Freshman of the Year and a four-time All-Region selection while being women’s soccer’s career leader in points (103) and goals scored (43).
  • Angela Hapner Musk: Musk was an All-American and GLVC Runner of the Year in cross country in 2012. She was the 2013 GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and an All-American in the outdoor 1500 while capturing six GLVC titles in her career, including five in individual events. Musk is currently Bellarmine’s women’s cross country and track and field head coach, earning 2017 GLVC XC Coach of the Year honors.
  • Braydon Hobbs: Hobbs has the distinction of being Bellarmine Athletics’ lone National Player of the Year, earning the recognition in 2012, when he was also named GLVC Player of the Year for men’s basketball. The guard, who is also the only Knights’ athlete to have his jersey retired, was a two-time All-American (2011 and 2012), the 2009 GLVC Freshman of the Year and helped lead the Knights to the 2011 D2 national championship.
  • Meghan Jones: In a career that spanned through 2015, Jones was a three-time All-American and three-time GLVC Track Athlete of the Year. The standout sprinter earned 11 All-Region laurels and was a 13-time GLVC champion, including seven individual titles.
  • Jeremy Kendle: Kendle was a two-time All-American (2011 and 2012) and the 2011 GLVC Player of the Year for men’s basketball. The guard was the top scorer on the 2011 D2 national-championship team and ranks fifth all time in career points (1,792).
  • Chris Striegel: Striegel was a three-time All-American in cross country (2015-17) and was the 2016 GLVC Runner of the Year. He owns the program’s 8k and 10k records. He’s also the program record holder in the indoor 5000 and outdoor 5000 and 10000.
  • Michael Thompson: Not only was Thompson the GLVC Pitcher of the Year in 2009, the right-hander was the consensus Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year and an All-American. Thompson is the program’s career leader in strikeouts (342) and was a 2009 draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals.
  • Dillon Ward: Before his distinguished professional lacrosse career, Ward was an All-American (the program’s first) and the ECAC Goalie of the Year in 2013 at Bellarmine. The third pick in the 2013 National Lacrosse League draft, Ward continues to hold every major goalkeeping record in program history.

The 2023 Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for March 25 on campus in Frazier Hall. Details of the event, including ticketing, will be announced in the near future.
