The Game
Winners of each of its last two games, the Murray State football team travels to Cape Girardeau Saturday for its 2022 season finale against 15th-ranked Southeast Missouri. Kick-off from Houck Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Series At A Glance
Saturday will be the 58th all-time meeting between the Redhawks and the Racers, with Murray State leading the overall series, 43-13-1, and the series in Cape Girardeau, 20-9-1. After two wins over the Redhawks last season, Murray State has now won four of the last five meetings between the two teams, after losing four of the previous five before that.

Scouting The Redhawks
The 15th-ranked Redhawks picked up a 31-7 win last Saturday at Eastern Illinois leaving them one win away from at least a share of the 2022 OVC Football Championship. Southeast Missouri is currently 8-2 on the year and 4-0 in conference play.

The Redhawks currently average 35.1 points on 475.4 yards of offense per game, while allowing 21.5 points on 368.2 yards per game. The SEMO offense is nearly perfectly balanced with 255.3 yards per game coming in the air and 220.1 coming on the ground.

Paxton DeLaurent’s move from the NAIA to the FCS this year has paid dividends for SEMO as he averages 269.6 yards per game with 17 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Laurent has also run 225 yards on the season with two additional touchdowns.

Perennial All-OVC selection Geno Hess has been as dominant as ever for SEMO this season averaging 125.4 yards per game, 7.1 yards per carry to go along with 15 touchdowns.

Defensively, Bryce Norman has amassed a team-high 88 tackles this season, while Lawrence Johnson leads the Redhawks in tackles-for-loss (7.5) and sacks (4.0).

A Win Saturday Would…
A win Saturday would allow the Racers to end the season on a three-game win streak and would be the fifth win over SEMO in the last six tries

A True Milestone

The Murray State football program earned its 500th win Saturday with a 27-9 victory over Robert Morris. Murray State is now 500-462-36 in all games since 1924.
