Eastern Kentucky University junior baseball player Louis Davenport III was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the league announced from its Brentwood, Tennessee headquarters.

In EKU’s 11-0 victory at Morehead State on Saturday, Davenport pitched six shutout innings and allowed just two hits while striking out 10.  He faced the minimum in four of his six innings of work.  It was Davenport’s second quality start of the season.

His performance marked just the 12th time since 2008 an EKU pitcher struck out 10 or more in a game.

Davenport is now 2-0 this season with a 3.38 ERA.  He has struck out 26 batters in 18 and two-thirds innings.  He ranks fourth in the OVC in strike outs and 10th in ERA.

The Colonels play host to No. 8 Louisville on Tuesday at 5 p.m.  The game will air live on ESPN+.
