The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team will host the University of Dayton for a midweek game on Wednesday.

First pitch at Earle Combs Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.  The game will air live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES

–  Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series 13-7-1. 

–  The last time the two teams met, Dayton left Richmond with a 17-5 victory on March 27, 2019. 

–  Former EKU second baseman Ryland Kerr was 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs in that game. 

THE COLONELS

–  EKU (8-11, 3-3 OVC) lost at No. 9 Tennessee, 13-5, on Tuesday.  The Colonels have won four of their last six games.

–  Freshman third baseman Santiago Peralta leads the team with a .472 batting average.

–  Right fielder Caleb Upshaw is hitting .296 with four home runs and a team-best 17 RBIs.  He hit his fourth homer of the season at Tennessee.

–  Freshman catcher Will King went 2-for-3 with two RBIs at Tennessee.

–  Brandon Thomas supplied three innings of scoreless relief at No. 9 Tennessee.  He allowed two hits and walked three.  In five appearances this season Thomas has a 1.69 ERA over five and one-third innings.

–  Redshirt junior Jye Deeble will make his first career start and his first appearance of the season.  The left-hander played in five games last season and allowed three runs in two and one-third innings.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

–  Dayton is 4-14 this season and has lost seven of its last eight games.  The Flyers opened a four-game series at home against Central Michigan on Friday with a 3-1 win before losing the next three.  

–  Shortstop Benjamin Blackwell leads the team with a .328 average.

–  Third baseman Riley Tirotta has a team-best 11 runs scored and first baseman/designated hitter Alex Brickman has a team-high 11 RBIs. 

–  Eli Majick, a freshman lefty, will start for Dayton.  In four relief appearances this season, he has given up two runs on three hits and a walk in one and two-thirds innings on the mound.
